Google Sheets dashboards that people actually open

A dashboard is only useful if it is current, honest and fast. Most of the ones we are asked to fix are none of the three.

The usual story: someone built a summary tab, it worked for a quarter, then the source data changed shape and the numbers quietly went wrong. Nobody trusts it now, so the real reporting happens in a side spreadsheet that only one person understands.

We build the dashboard as a system rather than a tab. Raw data lands in its own sheets and is never edited by hand. A calculation layer sits between the raw data and anything a human looks at, so a column moving does not silently break a total. The presentation layer is the only thing your team sees, and it is designed to be read in ten seconds — headline numbers, direction of travel, and the two or three cuts people always ask for next.

Questions we get asked

Can you build it in our existing spreadsheet?

Usually yes. We work in a duplicate first and only touch the live file once you have signed off, so there is no window where your team is looking at a half-built report.

What if our data lives in several places?

That is the common case. We connect what can be connected — Google Analytics, a database, an API, another workbook — and design a clean import routine for anything that has to arrive as a file.

Will it still work in six months?

That is what the layer separation is for. Upstream changes hit the raw sheet, not the charts. We also include a validation tab that flags when a source stops matching its expected shape.

Yes — see Looker Studio reporting. Sheets is the better answer when people need to interact with the underlying rows; Looker Studio is better for read-only distribution.
